2020 is the year when businesses started taking remote work security seriously. With employee lockdowns occurring at the drop of a hat, staff need to work where their health / devices stay secure. WatchGuard’s Passport bundle includes 3 solutions that cater exactly to this. It’s an easy to understand and use solution set. Passport gives users efficient methods to authenticate / protect / prevent security headaches – with multi-factor authentication, DNS protection and endpoint security.

What’s Authpoint?

Credential stealing malware is a common method for bad actors to gain access to systems. Phishing emails are becoming more difficult to spot. All it takes is to click a single attack link, for that user to become compromised. WatchGuard’s MFA solution AuthPoint, lightens the load for you and your customers.

AuthPoint uses push messages, QR codes or one-time passwords (OTPs), in combination with a mobile device’s DNA to identify and authenticate users. AuthPoint is deployed from the Cloud, with no requirement for users to carry physical tokens to authenticate themselves. (Tokens remain an option if an organisation requires it). This helps add an extra layer of security, in case a user’s password becomes compromised. This is often the case when a user has the same password between multiple systems. A bad actor will need details from a user’s AuthPoint, which defeats the attempted bad logon.

What’s DNSWatchGo?

DNS protection is another key technology in the Passport basket. As users move about or have to shift to a remote location, internet visibility may be lost. This exposes them to potential malware or phishing attacks from rogue domains. WatchGuard’s DNSWatchGo gives insights into these devices, no matter where in the world they are. When they are off the main network, a dedicated host client cross references DNS requests, against an aggregated list of known malicious domains. Any attempts by the user’s device to resolve these domains will be blocked by DNSWatchGo – keeping the user safe.

Panda Adaptive Defense 360 explained

The 3rd Passport solution in the bundle is Panda Adaptive Defense 360. Panda is deployed via the WatchGuard Cloud and is available for laptops, desktops and servers. Endpoint Protection (EPP0) technologies prevent infections by utilising collective intelligence, the consolidated and incremental knowledge repository of all applications, binaries and other files – both trusted and malicious.

At the same time, it analyses endpoint behaviours to detect and block both known and unknown malware, ransomware, trojans and phishing attacks. Its threat intelligence and machine-learning algorithms provide faster detection. The lightweight agent deploys easily, simplifying security management and increasing operational efficiency. Panda has multiple layers of security built in, and is the only antivirus technology where the final analysis is performed manually, by an in-person team of security professionals. They review any potential nasties, to keep users’ devices safe.

While WatchGuard offers these solutions individually, their Passport bundle brings them altogether in one place.  This provides peace of mind from bad actors, bad websites and sinister DNS lookups.
