Western Bay of Plenty District Council is using OpManager from ManageEngine to provide central collection of events and data from their IT infrastructure. Their Information Technology Team Leader, Richard Gilligan, recently gave a presentation at the ALGIM Infrastructure Seminar in Auckland where he ran through the selection process and the benefit of choosing OpManager to deliver what the council’s business units and managers needed.

With a myriad of tools – some free, some from vendors or specific technology being used, and quite a few strictly manual tasks – monitoring Western Bay’s infrastructure was fractured and ineffective. Richard Gilligan needed to change this, moving to a single platform for monitoring and automating management of infrastructure and business systems. In a perfect world he wanted an omniscient tool that would deliver…and be affordable. He needed insight, awareness of everything IT, and wanted one place to go.

OpManager from ManageEngine stood out as the tool of choice because it really is one tool to see it all with central collection of events and data, customisable dashboards, automation of tasks, and – another important cost-saver for a council – they could install and configure it using existing internal resources rather than having to contract the setup from a consultant.

The council’s investment was repaid after just one year, and business team leaders are impressed by the real-time information they now receive, leading to more informed decision-making.

Thank you Richard for sharing your journey through planning, selection and deployment, and thank you ALGIM for giving Richard the forum to deliver his presentation to fellow local government infrastructure managers. ManageEngine – powering IT ahead.
